DPC: A Comprehensive Primary Care Option for Everyone

People are looking for comprehensive healthcare options that fit their particular needs. Unfortunately, many of San Antonio’s primary care providers offer only the most basic of healthcare coverage. Access to specialists and certain types of treatment may not be available when you need it. What’s the point of a primary care service that doesn’t provide the level of care you require?

More and more people are discovering the advantages of Direct Primary Care (DPC). DPC clinics like Tailored MD in San Antonio, TX provide patient-focused comprehensive primary care services. Instead of one-size-fits-all group health plans, membership at Tailored MD gives you access to the personalized health care many primary plans don’t offer.

DPC is emerging as an innovative and patient-centered approach that offers comprehensive care, addressing the diverse needs of individuals, families, and even small to medium businesses. By prioritizing the doctor-patient relationship and removing the barriers of traditional insurance-based systems, DPC provides a more comprehensive and cost-effective solution for primary healthcare in San Antonio, TX.

So what does Tailored MD mean when we say “comprehensive?” Good question. Let’s take a look at five ways DPC memberships can provide the comprehensive care you need:

  1. Annual Checkups

Everyone needs an annual checkup (even if you feel healthy). Generally, the earlier a potential health concern is diagnosed and treated, the better the outcome.

During annual checkups, DPC clinicians take the time to evaluate various aspects of a patient’s health, including physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This comprehensive approach allows for the identification of potential health risks and the detection of early signs of diseases, leading to timely interventions and preventive measures.

DPC is focused on building long-term doctor/patient relationships. Annual checkups make DPC clinicians more attuned to a patient’s particular needs, enabling them to conduct more accurate assessments of your overall health and well-being.

  1. Lab Work

Direct primary care covers a wide range of lab work as part of its comprehensive approach to healthcare. At Tailored MD, we understand the value of diagnostic testing in assessing and monitoring a patient’s health. Through lab work, DPC clinicians can obtain valuable insights into a patient’s specific health markers, such as cholesterol levels, blood glucose levels, hormonal balance, and more. This test results aid in the early detection of health conditions, allowing for prompt intervention and personalized treatment plans tailored to the individual’s needs.

  1. Screenings & Preventive Care

Screenings play a vital role in comprehensive healthcare. From breast cancer screenings to scoliosis checks, DPC clinicians offer various screenings to detect potential health issues at an early stage. Regular screenings help identify risk factors and provide opportunities for intervention and preventive measures.

Preventive care is a cornerstone of direct primary care. Not only do we want to maintain health, but we also want to proactively respond to any issues that might crop up. If your screenings indicate something is wrong with your body, we want to prevent any development of the issue.

With the DPC model, patients have enhanced access to their primary care clinicians, allowing for personalized care plans focused on preventive measures. DPC clinicians guide healthy lifestyle choices, such as proper nutrition, exercise, stress management, and immunizations. By addressing risk factors and promoting healthy habits, DPC aims to prevent the onset or progression of diseases, ultimately improving overall health outcomes.

  1. Pediatric Care

Direct primary care also extends its benefits to pediatric care, ensuring that children receive the attention and healthcare services they require. DPC clinicians are experienced in managing the unique health needs of children, providing vaccinations, growth monitoring, developmental screenings, and addressing common childhood illnesses. By establishing a strong clinician/patient relationship from an early age, DPC encourages open communication between parents and physicians, promoting optimal pediatric health and development.

  1. Business Employee Plans

Direct primary care in San Antonio, TX is not limited to individual patients. Tailored MD also caters to the healthcare needs of small to medium businesses and their employees. Many DPC practices offer affordable and customizable plans tailored to meet the unique requirements of businesses.

By partnering with DPC providers, employers can provide comprehensive primary care services to their employees, promoting their well-being and productivity. These plans provide a wide range of healthcare options, including annual checkups, preventive care, acute illness visits, chronic disease management, and generic medications. Employers are ensured that their employees have access to high-quality care without the costs and complexities of traditional insurance-based models. For a more comprehensive plan, DPC can be paired with insurance alternatives that can help pay for large medical expenses at half the cost of traditional insurance.
